what are the best hair styling hot tools?
IMG_5397.jpg

I would be completely lying to you if I said that this post would not be biased, so to put it all out on the table these are MY favorite tools out on the market but I promise they’re many other great brands out there! So with that being said let’s get into all my favorite Hot Tools!

Which Blow Dryer is the best?

Blow dryer’s are something that I’m not particularly picky about for my guests, unless they have a ton of hair or a wild natural texture. For example, my finer hair guests who don’t require a ton of round brushing, or flat brush action, to smooth their hair I usually just recommend a basic blow dryer. However, my heavier density guests, or guests with curly/wavy hair, I recommend one of the two following blow dryers. Both Dryer’s are on the pricier side but well worth the investment, and they are professional so you know you will get your monies worth!

First up, the Parlux Blow Dryer! These Dryer’s range from different weights, sizes and motor strengths. I have owned around 4 of these Blow Dryer’s as they have advanced over the years, but currently I use the Parlux 385 PowerLight. This particular model is super light weight, weighing in at just under a pound [Yay! No Arm soreness!]. It has a built in silencer and is powered by 2100 watts of drying power, which is guaranteed 2500 hours of working time. It is made of all recycled materials [love this! Save our planet!] and comes in a variety of colors with many different attachments! It has Ion and Ceramic Technology that allows the hair to be dried from inside out helping to preserve the overall health of the hair and it conserves energy. So what’s the damage to own one of these wonderful tools? They cost about $235 plus tax and can be ordered right online at the link I provided above!

Option two, the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer! You knew this would be on my list didn’t you?! And I know you think I’m crazy because we all know how much these bad boys cost, but is it worth the cost? Absolutely! Now I personally have not owned this dryer, but I have experienced its power a few times now. I have also seen a number of my guests who have switched from a basic Drug Store Blow Dryer to this Dryer. What a difference! The Dyson Supersonic cuts down your blow dry time in half and protects your hair shaft at the same time. The Dyson site claims “It will increase your smoothness by 75%, increase your shine by up to 135%, and frizz/flyaways by 61%”. Those sound like great numbers to me and I’ve definitely seen it with my own guests! Now the price, a Dyson Supersonic will cost you $399 plus tax and can also be purchased online at the link above.

What curling iron is the best?

Now this is when I become really biased, and for those current guests of mine you know exactly which irons I’m talking about! Yes, the Babyliss Pro Ceramic Curling irons. I have been using the Babyliss Pro Irons since the beginning of my career 12 years ago!

IMG_7413.jpg

A little back story, I was handed one of the original Babyliss Pro Curling Irons back in beauty school as a free gift from a friend who worked for Maly’s Beauty Supply. I decided to bring it to work when beach curls started to get really popular years ago and let me tell you… I was hooked! I have used this iron every day of my career for over ten years. It just died on me last year, that was eleven years guys! I remember even posting my loss on Instagram and Babyliss personally reached out to me to say sorry for my loss! That’s great customer service if you ask me!

The benefits to using the Babyliss Pro Ceramic Curling Iron are many! First, they use a ceramic barrel technology, which means that the barrel heats up evenly so that you can create tight and smooth curls in one shot. They have a heat adjustment dial on each iron that ranges from 1 to 25 [up to 400 degrees] and the box has a whole chart that will help you determine which setting is best for you! Oh and the cost? Only $35 plus tax! Now that’s a steal!

On the daily, I use the Babyliss Pro Ceramic 1 1/4” Iron to get my Signature Beach Waves. However, I always have in stock at the salon 1”-1 1/2”, so if your interested in picking one up on your next visit contact me and we’ll get you all set up with one of these bad boys!

What Flat Irons are the best?

This is another hot tool I have had with me in the salon for 12 years, the Infrashine Medium Flat Iron. I completely purchased it on a whim when I was in desperate need of a flat iron and it has been a staple ever since! I have only had to replace this iron once since purchasing it and it was only because I was not wrapping the cord correctly, so it started to have wiring issues. But guess what? They also have wonderful customer service! They sent me over a brand new iron at no charge! Not only is the quality of professional tools worth it, but they take care of you and that’s just as important.

So what’s so great about the Infrashine Flat Iron? First off, this is the first and only iron I have used that locks in moisture, adds beautiful shine and makes the hair super smooth. It’s also is known for protecting your hair color [um yes please!] and helps your hair to keep styles for longer! It also has heat adjustment settings from 140 degrees to 400 degrees, so you have all the options you’ll need for your particular density and texture! And last but not least, it has ceramic plates! The Infrashine Flat Iron is also very well priced for being a Professional Iron, at $150 plus tax and can be purchased at the link above.

As mentioned these are 100% my biased thoughts on all of these products listed above, so of course if you have any questions regarding any other tools please feel free to reach out and I will give you my honest opinion!
